The White House has a bunker underneath the East Wing and it's supposed to be secret but not any more. When the 'golden ballroom' construction was legally challenged, the White House revealed the project must continue for 'national security reasons'.
The White House bunker was built by Roosevelt during WW2 and was later reinforced to withstand nuclear weapons. It's called the Presidential Emergency Operations Center.
