The Illusion Causing The Tasmanian Forest Wars

The illusion at the heart of the 'decades long forest wars' in Tasmania is that anything made by man is more valuable than anything made by nature. An examination of the conflict will bring you to this conclusion. That's why millions of hectares of native forest were destroyed to make paper over a 40 year period in Tasmania. People like Premier Lara Giddings believe paper is more valuable than forests. She will tell you the destruction is reversible, knowing full well that European settlers and their descendants have permanently obliterated thousands of species of terrestrial plants and animals in a little over 200 years. Its not 'renewable' or 'sustainable' and they know it. The world the first Europeans 'discovered' in Tasmania is being systematically cashed-in to pay-off homes, cars, fight wars and buy consumer electronics. To the Laras of this world it is all just colonial loot stolen from a people her culture committed genocide against. Because of her denial of history and the benefits she has gained from it, Giddings is a thinly-disguised criminal in my view.
Her law degree started when a sailor stuck a flag into an Australian beach and claimed it for England. Her legal system is monarchist-based. Knowing this is enough to destroy the illusion and destroy the power of its adherents such as Lara Giddings. Lara's formative years in Goroka New Guinea were spent in a colonial world of privilege. She is a neo-colonialist with an iPhone, full of self-deception, contradictions and elitist brainwashing. Lara Giddings is waging an undeclared war on the Tasmanians that have chosen to evolve beyond colonial genocide and bloody-mindedness. Our momentum is more powerful than Lara's revisionist materialism. Lets break the power of her illusion?
